Bio

Phil Vaillancourt is a Mi K’maq native living in Comox, BC on Vancouver Island.

Being trained and mentored by Tom LaFortune (Tsawout First Nation), his first original mentor, as well as having  Haida, Tsimshian and Tlingit mentors and has been trained in formline design, history and technique.

Whether carving a ceremonial mask to be danced, or creating a tattoo  or print design, his Vision to create strong work represents his integrity to honour the art form and keep its roots intact.
